The purpose of this manual is to provide a deeper understanding of the work we do at R&E Group and an overview of our approach to community-engaged research and evaluation. The manual aims to provide guidance on community-based data collection and assist staff in developing the skills necessary to collect data within community settings.
This 90-page manual comprises three modules:
- Module One provides background on R&E Group’s research and evaluation activities, focusing on work that relies on data collection, and reviews our approach to working with populations we serve.
- Module Two reviews R&E Group’s approach to projects which involve community-based data collection.
- Module Three outlines procedures to follow while engaging in community-based data collection, including data collection and safety. Procedures detailed in this manual are based on best practices and describe steps necessary to ensure consistency in our day-to-day operations.
Material from this manual may be used for training provided to data collection staff in R&E Group as part of new staff onboarding, booster trainings for current staff, and/or part of project-based trainings. The material may be cut and pasted into training slides or handouts as needed.
Other organizations are also welcome to use the manual as a resource to guide their own community-based data collection. Find the Permission to Use Statement here.
