RANT®
How it works
Streamlined RANT includes a client risk/needs assessment that can be administered by program personnel in 15 minutes or less – with minimal training required. Simple screens guide users through the 19 items individually and instantly provides client-level reporting upon completion.
Reports
The software immediately generates an easily understandable scored report sorting offenders into one of four risk/needs quadrants with direct implications for the optimal level of criminal justice supervision and behavioral health care. The report also lists the specific risk and needs factors identified for the client.
Research
RANT is derived from empirical evidence showing that outcomes in community correctional settings are influenced by how well drug offenders are matched to services suited to both their criminogenic risks and clinical needs. Backed by years of systematic research by our team, RANT has shown good internal consistency, has been independently validated by several organizations, and its findings have been published in a peer reviewed journal.
Purchase
Streamlined RANT license options include:
- $1,250 for five users, for a 1-year term
- $3,000 for 25 users, for a 1-year term

DUI-RANT ™
Streamlined DUI-RANT™ was developed from our empirically-based Risk and Needs Triage tool (RANT) for the DUI population. DUI-RANT is a highly secure, web-based tool designed to help judges and other criminal justice professionals place adult DUI offenders into the appropriate care setting.
How it works
Streamlined DUI-RANT includes a client risk/needs assessment that can be administered by program personnel in 15-20 minutes or less, with minimal training required. Simple screens guide users through the 23 items individually and instantly provides client-level reporting upon completion. DUI-RANT utilizes industry-standard data encryption.
Reports
The software immediately generates an easily understandable report sorting offenders into one of four risk/needs quadrants with direct implications for the optimal level of criminal justice supervision and behavioral health care. In addition to a risk/needs score, the report also lists the specific risk and needs factors identified for the client.
Research
DUI-RANT was derived from empirical evidence showing that outcomes in community correctional settings are influenced by how well offenders are matched to services suited to both their criminogenic risks and clinical needs. Additionally, DUI offenders have been shown to present with unique markers of risk and need that distinguish them from drug offenders. Most states and jurisdictions rely heavily on blood alcohol concentration levels and number of prior DUI offenses in making sentencing and treatment decisions. Our research identified and incorporated the predictive use of these markers into the DUI-RANT.

TRI-CEP ™
TRI-CEP™ is a user-friendly web-based system that allows problem-solving courts to collect and manage data in order to more effectively coordinate treatment, supervision, and evaluation needs. Easy-to-use screens, immediate reports and adaptive recommendations help judges and other stakeholders manage clients and measure overall court effectiveness.
How it works
Data entry screens are arranged like an appointment calendar, so users are able to complete weekly data entry in less than two minutes per client. Frequent prompts to prevent missing data ensure that client-level reports of individual progress and aggregate-level reports for program evaluation will be as accurate as possible.
Reports
TRI-CEP provides automatic alerts to all key users regarding client progress. It also provides specific recommendations when a change in client status calls for adjustments in supervision or treatment conditions. Combined with comprehensive, actionable reports that are simple to interpret, the TRI-CEP system fosters judicial-clinical collaboration, improving both client outcomes and court efficiency.
Research
After more than two decades of working with problem-solving courts, we continuously encountered major limitations in the type of data that was available at the program level. This made it difficult for court staff to effectively provide treatment, appropriately supervise participants, or to conduct meaningful program evaluations. We developed the TRI-CEP to enable drug, DWI/DUI and other problem solving courts to collect and utilize this data for those important purposes. The TRI-CEP data management system was developed in direct accordance with the National Research Advisory Committee’s (NRAC’s) logic model and performance indicators.
